さらに、テオバルト・ベームの理論に基づく内径設計と開放管構造を採用することで、全音域にわたって音程と音量の高度なバランスを実現し、とりわけ従来の課題であった低音域の弱さは完全に解消されました。
安易にキー・システムを追加することなく、あえて伝統的なキーレス構造を採用することで、奏者の自由な表現と、あらゆる音楽への迅速な適応力を可能にしています。

使用される素材はすべて楽器用として厳選され、二十年以上にわたって丹念に乾燥されたもののみを使用しているため、在庫状況は常に流動的です。

HIKARU QUENA “SAMUKE” was created as a radical redefinition of the quena, and as a singular answer to the artistic possibilities of air-reed vertical flutes.
Its sound is powerful yet profoundly refined, blending seamlessly with modern instruments such as piano, saxophone, and violin, and even within the full resonance of an orchestra.
With a range exceeding three octaves, SAMUKE offers the performer limitless expressive freedom and musical inspiration.
Rather than diminishing the traditional character of the quena, SAMUKE distills it to an even higher level of purity.
The design of its mouthpiece — the very heart of the instrument — integrates advanced acoustic concepts drawn from the great vertical flute traditions of the world, including the recorder, shakuhachi, kaval, and xiao.
By adopting an internal bore design and open-pipe structure based on the theories of Theobald Boehm, SAMUKE achieves exceptional balance of intonation and projection throughout its entire range. In particular, the long-standing weakness of the low register has been completely overcome.
Instead of resorting to the easy solution of adding key mechanisms, SAMUKE deliberately preserves a traditional keyless system, allowing for complete freedom of expression and immediate adaptability to any musical language.
From the careful selection of materials and the carving of the wood, to the final adjustment and tuning process — which alone requires over a month — every single step of the instrument’s creation is carried out entirely by hand by Hikaru Iwakawa himself.
Semi-custom instruments are also available, allowing each SAMUKE to be tailored to the player’s hand size, playing style, musical personality, and personal preferences — resulting in a truly one-of-a-kind instrument.
All materials are strictly selected for instrument making and have been naturally seasoned for over twenty years. For this reason, availability is always limited and constantly changing.

HIKARU QUENA “SAMUKE” fue creada como una redefinición radical de la quena y como una respuesta única a las posibilidades artísticas de las flautas verticales de bisel (air-reed).
Su sonido es potente y a la vez profundamente refinado, integrándose de manera natural con instrumentos modernos como el piano, el saxofón o el violín, e incluso dentro de la resonancia de una orquesta completa.
Con una extensión que supera las tres octavas, SAMUKE ofrece al intérprete una libertad expresiva y una inspiración musical prácticamente ilimitadas.
Lejos de perder el carácter tradicional de la quena, SAMUKE lo destila y lo eleva a un nivel aún mayor de pureza.
El diseño de su embocadura —el corazón mismo del instrumento— integra conceptos acústicos avanzados inspirados en las grandes tradiciones de flautas verticales del mundo, como la flauta dulce, el shakuhachi, el kaval y el xiao.
Gracias a un diseño del taladro interior y a una estructura de tubo abierto basados en las teorías de Theobald Boehm, SAMUKE logra un equilibrio excepcional de afinación y proyección en todo su registro. En particular, la debilidad histórica del registro grave ha sido completamente superada.
En lugar de recurrir a soluciones fáciles como añadir un sistema de llaves, SAMUKE conserva deliberadamente una estructura tradicional sin llaves, lo que permite una libertad total de expresión y una adaptación inmediata a cualquier lenguaje musical.
Desde la cuidadosa selección de los materiales y el tallado de la madera, hasta el proceso final de ajuste y afinación —que por sí solo requiere más de un mes—, cada etapa de la fabricación es realizada íntegramente a mano por Hikaru Iwakawa.
